It’s Christmas time in Weatherford, Texas and Phyllis is asked to feature her home as one in the annual Christmas Jingle Bell Tour of Homes. Phyllis is excited but she’s also in the middle of planning a dear friends’ wedding to take place on New Year’s Eve. With the help of her friends, as well as the man in her life, she makes sure her home is up to the holiday standards.
As the tour is almost ready to begin, the head of the tour committee, and a friend of Phyllis’, Georgia Hallerbee is attacked and left unconscious. Since the police can’t rely on Georgia to tell them who knocked her out, Phyllis sets out to discover the truth on her own. After all, she has several years experience solving these difficult cases.
This is the 6th book in the “A Fresh-Baked Mystery” series and the first book I read. I’m usually a stickler to read books in order, but I couldn’t pass up this chance to review this book. The series looks wonderful (and I do have the first five books in my TBR), so I broke my own rule and read it. I’m glad I did.
First, the main character…she’s delightful, a retired teacher who can’t stay away from solving a mystery (the perfect protagonist for a cozy, right?) She owns a huge house and shares it with a few other retired teachers as well as the man in her life, Sam. They are an adorable couple. This is a very down-to-earth type of series that will leave you feeling good all over. The story moves along at a fast-paced and it’s the perfect read for this time of year.
FTC Disclosure: The publisher provided me with a copy of this book to review. This did not influence my thoughts and opinions in any way. All opinions expressed are my own.

Anything about food and I don’t have to cook/bake it, I’m in! Always ready for a new book and author. Thanks for the offer! Tricia at peanutpet@aol.com
Thank you so much for the fun giveaway opportunity. I love a good cozy and this sounds dandy:) I know it may be common, but my favorite holiday traditions are generally the food, specifically the fun munchies we have at every holiday in different variations. These are great, but they do not taste the same any other time of year

My favorite holiday tradition can’t done anymore. I used to live close to my cousin’s house, Now we are states away. Everytime after Thanksgiving or Christmas dinner, all of us, my aunt, uncle, cousins, cousin’s kids, my husband and I all went for a long walk around the neighborhood. I loved that, we talked along the way. Now both my aunt and uncle have passed away. I loved those walks.

Ever since she was a little girl my daughter has toasted the bread –two slices at a time–and then torn it into small pieces for the stuffing. She sits on one side of the counter and I, on the other side, am cutting up the onions and celery. And we talk about whatever comes to mind. She’s 25 now and we still do that–it is such a favorite Mother – Daughter time for us both.

Pingback: GIVEAWAY AT SOCRATES COZY CAFE! — NOV. 20 « CHOCOLATE & MIMOSAS
I just posted on my Chocolate and Mimosas blog about this one…here: http://myquirkyfavorites.wordpress.com/2011/11/20/giveaway-at-socrates-cozy-cafe-nov-20/
My favorite holiday tradition is that two days after Thanksgiving each year, my out-of-town grown kids and their kids all come to our little city and join us at a favorite restaurant. The tradition actually started with them gathering at my house in the foothills, but for the past few years, we’ve gone to the California Pizza Kitchen. After lunch, we take lots of fun photos to commemorate the event.
I follow your blog and would love to win this book. Fav holiday tradition, well, if it is warm enough, going for a walk after the big meal with the family.

Please include me in the drawing for a copy of “The Gingerbread Bump-Off.”"
I feel as though Phyllis and the gang are old friends. Sometimes annoying, sometimes short with each other, but always ready to back each other up or defend one another, as friends do.
My favorite holiday tradition is gathering with family and friends to visit and enjoy each other’s company (and eat, of course!) Many of these people I see quite often in the summer, but when winter sets in, I see them much less frequently.
Forgot to tell you, I’m following you through networked blogs.

I would very much love to win a copy of LIvia’s new book. I’m a networked blogs follower of this blog. I really don’t have any holiday traditions.. My partner’s birthday IS Thanksgiving. So we’ve always made a big deal out of Turkey day for my turkey. LOL
All the kids and rug rats will be here… without extra guests we are 19 when seated for dinner.

Thank you for having this giveaway. I have wanted to read your books. My library doesn’t have them so winning the book would give me a chance to sample the series.
My favorite holiday tradition: all the people at the Thanksgiving table discuss what they are most thankful for. Some of the things are really surprising and/or touching.
Please enter me! My favorite tradition is just slowing down to enjoy time (and food) with the family.
